The NSW Government has released its response to the NSW Chief Scientist and Engineer review of the management of asbestos in recovered fines and recovered materials for beneficial reuse in NSW.
The Chief Scientist and Engineer made nine recommendations for consideration by the NSW Government.
The Government has carefully considered the final report and has fully accepted six of the recommendations, with the remaining three accepted in-principle.
The Government’s response to the report is available here: https://www.epa.nsw.gov.au/Your-environment/Recycling-and-reuse/resource-recovery-framework/management-asbestos-recovered-fines-material
The EPA will work with other government agencies through the NSW Asbestos Coordination Committee and will also consult with industry and stakeholders to develop a detailed action plan.
If you have any questions in regard to this matter, please address these to the NSW EPA Engagement team engagement@epa.nsw.gov.au.
