AI, not Excel: Using ChatGPT for Environmental Data Analysis”, presented by Matthew O’Brien (freelance Environmental Consultant)
In this presentation, Matthew will showcase some of the practical AI use cases he has developed for environmental data using ChatGPT, drawing from his own experience and insights from his peers. These examples aim to illustrate the potential of AI as a valuable part of your data exploration and automation toolkit, possibly saving time and sanity from performing similar processes in Excel!
Matthew is an experienced freelance environmental consultant with a background in hydrogeology, contaminated land assessment and remediation, aquatic ecotoxicology, and hydrographics. His career has been marked by a keen interest in leveraging technology to enhance the impact and efficiency of environmental work. Committed to exploring the integration of AI into everyday tasks, Matthew aims to streamline data analysis and technical report generation within environmental consulting. Despite the current hype around AI, his recent experience guiding leaders on AI usage has revealed that the environmental sector is still in the very early stages of adopting this technology. Matthew believes that the key to widespread AI adoption will be identifying highly relevant use cases that demonstrate immediate, tangible benefits.
“AI-Powered Environmental Consulting: Tools, Techniques and Trends”, presented by Ben Farmer (Senversa)
As part of Senversa’s core team working on the evaluation, development and deployment of AI products, Ben will share valuable insights and lessons learned from the past 18 months, where AI has become a noticeable part of our daily lives. AI is a lot more than the ubiquitous chatbot and has the potential to significantly transform how contaminated land projects are won and delivered. Ben will share some of his insights into AI beyond ChatGPT and how they relate to the contaminated land industry.
Ben is an associate data analyst with over 18 years’ experience in environmental consulting in Australia and UK. In 2022, after 16 years working on a broad range of contaminated land projects, Ben completed a career transition, switching from Senversa’s contaminated land team into the digital services team. Where he previously specialised in environmental site investigation, remediation planning and cost estimating, Ben now focuses on maximising the value of the collected environmental data through advanced analytics and impactful data visualisation.
