One of the core values and aims of ACLCA is to provide relevant, topical and up-to-date training and professional development to its members, so that individuals within member companies can and will maintain and improve the technical and professional standards and skills of member companies. ACLCA Qld are running foundation training in 2024 on Environmental Site Assessment geared towards graduates and new entries into the industry and CPD Module Workshops targeted to more experience practitioners. New modules will be introduced in the 2nd half of 2024.

CPD Module 2b: Field Investigations

The objective of this session is to demonstrate the methodology for obtaining relevant, reliable soil, soil vapour and groundwater samples, including Quality Assurance and Quality Control requirements.

By the end of this session you should have a general introduction to the various methods for obtaining soil, soil vapour and groundwater samples.

Who should attend:

This module will target recent graduates and professionals new to the contaminated land industry.

Presenter: Ned Connolly – Principal Consultant, SLR Consulting

Ned has over 13 years in the assessment and remediation of contaminated soil, surface water, and groundwater on various sites across Queensland, Western Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, Northern Territory, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, and Iraq.

Ned has undertaken numerous environmental site assessments to identify possible sources and receptors of varying forms of contamination (including petrochemical, asbestos, per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances, and mining orientated). Ned is also experienced in the decommissioning and remediation of mining, landfill, petroleum and sewage treatment-based sites, development of remediation action plans, remedial strategy development, and remedial design. Furthermore, Ned also acts as a Suitably Qualified Person (SQP) as defined by the EP Act (1994) and is a Certified Environmental Practitioner – Site Contamination Specialist.
