EPA Victoria presents: Planning 101 and interactions with contaminated land
Join ACLCA Victoria for our September Member Presentation Evening hosted by our Regulatory Affairs and Audit Sub Committee (RAA SC) who welcome representatives from EPA Victoria to speak and field questions in relation to Victoria’s planning system as it relates to contaminated land management.
This presentation is a high-level outline of the planning system and how it operates in the context of environment protection. It is intended to provide you a basic understanding of what the planning system does and a sense of how your technical work fits into the bigger picture. It may also provoke some thought and discussion on some of the issues and opportunities.

Ernie Sanchez, Manager, Development Advisory Unit, EPA Victoria
Ernie manages a Unit that delivers on EPA’s obligations to provide environment protection advice in statutory planning, strategic planning, EES and earth resources approval processes. He has a good working knowledge of the intersection of the Environment Protection Act 2017 and the Planning and Environment Act 1987 from ten years of working in different parts of the Victorian public service. He is also a sessional academic tutor at RMIT’s Master of Urban Planning and Environment.
Kristin Wasley, Manager, Environmental Audit, EPA Victoria will also be supporting Ernie during the event’s Q/A session fielding questions relating to the audit program.
