This module introduces the principles behind the Victorian EPA Audit process and CUTEP / CUSFARP and will cover the changes introduced under the new Environment Protection Act.

The focus of this module will be to provide participants with:

  • A broad understanding of Environmental Auditing and CUTEP / CUSFARP;
  • Be aware of the key components of Environmental Auditing and CUTEP / CUSFARP; and
  • Be able to apply the basic principles of Environmental Auditing and CUTEP / CUSFARP in their day to day work (where relevant).

The target audience is from 1 – 5 years experience or where limited audit assessment and/or support experience has been acquired.

Presenters:

Darryl Strudwick (Technical Director – Geosciences and Remediation Services, AECOM) was appointed as an Environmental Auditor in Victoria in 2003 and has completed or is currently undertaking Environmental Audits at numerous sites ranging from former service stations / mechanics workshops to former industrial facilities, including gasworks, automotive tyre and component manufacturing facilities, former coal fired power stations, an aluminium smelter and a live fire training facility. Darryl became an accredited Site Contamination Auditor in South Australia in 2009 and undertakes Site Contamination Audits in South Australia, as well as Audits in the Northern Territory. Before becoming an Environmental Consultant, Darryl spent 10 years with EPA (Victoria) where he was involved in the development of SEPP (Groundwaters of Victoria) and the preparation of EPA guidance on the clean-up and Management of polluted Groundwater (i.e. CUTEP), as well as groundwater sampling guidelines.

Doug Ahearne is a Principal Environmental Scientist with over 24 years of experience in the regulation, assessment, management and remediation of contaminated land. He is an EPA Victoria appointed environmental auditor (contaminated land). In his role at Senversa he works on a broad range of contaminated land issues providing advice to clients including all levels of government, developers and industry.
