We are pleased to announce that we are running our very successful annual Ecological Risk Assessment Workshop presented by Dr. Belinda Goldsworthy (enRiskS) this year, on Monday 11th November. Thank you to GHD for hosting this in their St Leonards office.
Ecological Risk Assessment (ERA) Workshop – the how to guide
This newly updated 5-hr workshop will explore the range of techniques available to assess risks to terrestrial and aquatic flora/fauna, and most importantly identify when an ERA is required. Topics introduced will include food web modelling, ecotoxicity testing, bioavailability testing, ecological surveys and population assessments. Case studies that adopt a weight-of-evidence approach will be discussed. We will learn the many ways to derive Tier 1 ecological criteria and how to adapt these for site-specific conditions. This training goes beyond the theoretical guidance provided in ASC NEPM (2013) and will show why ERA projects are never dull! The course will be aimed at people with a basic understanding of contaminated land management and the Tier 1 screening process.
Presenter
Dr Belinda Goldsworthy is a Principal consultant with Environmental Risk Sciences (enRiskS). She has over 20 years’ experience assessing potential risks to terrestrial and aquatic biota from exposure to a range of chemicals. Her ERA assessments include a weight-of-evidence process that considers information relating to chemistry, ecotoxicology, bioaccumulation, bioavailability and population assessments. Her ERA expertise extends to development of ecological screening values which protect both direct and indirect toxicity, and the development of national ERA guidance.
Each attendee will be issued with a digital version of the course booklet.
