Course Content:

Our presenter will detail the concepts and tools to ensure confident application of contaminant chemistry to your projects. This course will be complimented by practical, in-house demonstrations that show how analytical chemistry is applied in the field and the laboratory. As leading experts in mine waste management, closure and rehabilitation, Okane Consultants leads geochemical and contaminated land investigations across North America, Oceania and Internationally, ensuring interesting and thought-provoking case studies are central to this workshop. This year an additional component will be added to the workshop which entails effectively communicating contaminant chemistry to your clients

Who should attend:

From graduates to senior consultants, our presenter will ensure you leave with new learnings to support your clients and develop your career.

Presenter: Dr Ben Freidman, (PhD [Env. Remediation], BEng [Hons]). Senior Closure Consultant and Geochemist, Okane Consultants.

Ben Freidman is a Senior Closure Consultant and Geochemist at Okane Consultants (based in Milton, Brisbane). Ben has a PhD in contaminated land assessment and remediation design from The University of Melbourne involving landfill and hydrocarbon remediation in the Antarctic and sub-Antarctic with the Australian Antarctic Division.

Ben has extensive experience with preliminary and detailed site investigations (ranging from small service stations to large mine sites), analytical chemistry and laboratory management, and human health and ecological risk assessments. Ben has completed soil, sediment, surface water, groundwater, and air quality investigations across Australia with his experience extending to the management of conservation programs and degraded lands restoration programs in Central America.

Supported by previous consulting experience, regulatory experience with the NSW EPA, and client-side experience with Energy Australia at Yallourn Coal Mine, Ben has experience characterising and managing a broad range of organic and inorganic contaminants.
