The Universities Liaisons Subcommittee (ULS c) invite Expressions of Interest from members to support ULSc initiatives.
Primary aim of ULSc is collaboration with all universities across Qld to initiate strategies to encourage engagement between universities, their students and the Contaminated Land Management Industry.
Initial support requested by universities:
- ACLCA to provide content recommendations to current university courses,
- ‘Awareness’ for students of contaminated land as a potential career.
The ULSc will communicate and collaborate with all universities interested at this time. There are various strategies successfully in planning.

17/04/25 Kirsty Dalton (GHD) & Charlie Kittel (ECP- Butler Partners) presented online to T1 Soil Foundation Students. Kirsty and Charlie provided an overview for students of contaminated land as a potential career and provided students with a better understanding of the CLM industry and what the industry has to offer.

29/07/2025. Cindy Cheung (AECOM) & Charlie Kittel (ECP- Butler Partners) presented online to T2 Soil Foundation Students. The purpose of the presentation was to present ‘real life’ industry experience in the contaminated land space.
- ACLCA will contribute to QUT Environmental Geochemistry Semester 2 students.

The ULSc is currently seeking expression of interest from our members to be involved in supporting either of the following ULSc strategies.
The areas of involvement include
- Attendance/presentation (online opportunities available) at Uni Open days (structured days/times) or Environmental & Engineering Student Industry events primarily to (ECPs most welcome)
- assist students with a better understanding of the Contaminated Land Industry and what the industry has to offer,
- provide information what ACLCA is and does, and what working in the contaminant and remediation industry looks like,
- talk on real-world, practical knowledge and
- introduce students to the growing demand for professionals in the CLM industry – an excellent career prospect.
- Assist ULSc at meetings with relevant university department heads and academics to provide technical feedback on their curriculum content to introduce CLM content.
- Ad hoc – Present Guest lectures, providing a catalyst to raise awareness and/or create student interest in contaminated land. (Pre-determined topic and target audience ie1-4 years, post grad, masters etc).
